IRVING, TX – October 24, 2005 –
DynCorp International is joining forces MD Helicopters and two other
companies to compete for a contract to produce light utility
helicopters for the U.S. Army.
MD Helicopters proposed on
October 20 to provide its MD Explorer® to the Army’s light utility
helicopter program. The federal government seeks to buy more than 300
helicopters to supply the $1.3 billion program.
Under the
teaming arrangement, DI will provide contract field teams and
management and field- service maintenance personnel to the Army.
The other members of the team are GENCO Infrastructure Solutions and
Aviation Systems of Northwest Florida, highly regarded companies with
extensive experience with the Army and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Pittsburgh, Pa.-based GENCO, a supply-chain management services
company, serves a wide range of government, retail, and manufacturing
customers. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, GIS, will provide supply-chain
management services for the proposed light utility helicopter program.
Aviation Systems of Northwest Florida, based in Pensacola, designs,
builds, and maintains complex aircraft training systems. It will supply
the program’s training devices.
